Dr. James P. Cassidy
Dr. James P. Cassidy is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who grew up in the suburbs of Chicago in Arlington Heights, Illinois. He knew that he wanted to become a dentist since he was in the seventh grade as he admired his own dentist and the ability to work with his hands and with people. When attending dental school, Dr. Cassidy witnessed a lecture performed by an oral surgeon and became very interested in the types of oral procedures that are used to fix patient’s smiles.
He finished his undergrad and dentistry education before completing an oral and maxillofacial residency in Cincinnati, OH. He worked part time at two practices before receiving an offer to become a partner at Cincinnati Oral, Maxillofacial & Dental Implant Surgery. Dr. Cassidy believes in the ability to help people and solve problems with an immediate solution in oral surgery. He spends time with patients outside of the practice as well, using his hospital privileges to provide emergency and trauma care at Mercy Hospital Anderson.
Dr. Steven P. Pieper
Dr. Steven P. Pieper grew up on the west side of Cincinnati, OH, and attended St. Xavier High School. He knew from an early time that he wanted to pursue a career in the health care, and coincidentally, he lived in an apartment above a dental office in Clifton during his college years at UC. The dentist was very kind and allowed him to observe some procedures. Once Dr. Pieper attended dental school, he realized that he enjoyed oral surgery as surgery is very hands-on and provides positive and immediate results to patients. He worked as a phlebotomist and lab tech at Good Samaritan Hospital during college, receiving direct exposure to a hospital atmosphere, making oral surgery a natural fit for him after completing dental school.
During his oral surgical residency after dental school, Dr. Pieper met Dr. Cassidy, and they worked together on various oral and maxillofacial cases and found they shared many of the same values and approaches to patient care. Dr. Pieper chose to stay in Cincinnati, OH, when searching for the right fit in a private practice atmosphere after finishing his surgical residency. Dr. Pieper joined Dr. Cassidy at Cincinnati Oral, Maxillofacial & Dental Implant Surgery in 1993. Dr. Pieper continued to teach part time (for eight years) at University of Cincinnati’s Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery after he completed the program. He is currently on staff at Mercy Hospital West and Mercy Hospital Anderson in Cincinnati, OH.
Dr. Pieper has participated in overseas mission trips, two times to orphanages in Bucharest, Romania in the late 1990’s, and most recently to Tanzania, Africa in 2015.
Dr. Gary H. Wilcox Jr.
Dr. Gary H. Wilcox Jr. grew up in Reno, Nevada, and became inspired to study dentistry in high school. He attended Montana State University and the University of Nevada, Reno for his undergraduate studies. Between schools, he worked as a fly fishing guide in Alaska before returning home to Reno, Nevada, to finish his degree and go into business with his dad building custom homes. He began studying general dentistry in Nevada as he began his pre-requisite courses.
During his second year of dental school, there was an oral surgeon who demonstrated unique cases of orthognathic and war trauma cases. These cases were an influence to Dr. Wilcox as he chose to pursue a career in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Once completing dental school to receive his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry, he enrolled in an oral and maxillofacial surgical residency program. He performs trauma and emergency oral care at the University Hospital Medical Center where he completed his residency training, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and both Mercy Hospital Anderson and Mercy Hospital West.
